Listening to the Recordings

On this website you will be able to listen to the EVP samples by clicking on the audio player icon which will produce the sound over your desktop speakers.  This however is a poor way to hear the full fidelity of the audio sample so we strongly recommend using stereo headphones.

Alternately, for the more serious listener, you can download the audio file (which is in WAV format) from the link provided and use your computer with a sound editing program and headphones to filter and analyze the audio clips in any way you choose.

Each EVP sample will include a brief description of any known environmental sounds which are deemed to be relevant.  Many of the sounds on the audio clips are perfectly normal and natural sounds and can be disregarded except when a paranormal voice seems to make an observational remark or comment.

All human (investigator) speech will be transcribed so that the listener will know what the context of the recording contains.  Generally, EVP voices seem to occur as a response to human speech or actions, although there are times when they occur spontaneously for no known reason.

Suggested interpretations of the paranormal voices will also be included, but the listeners must decide for themselves what they think the voices are saying.  In some cases the audio clips will contain paranormal voices that are unintelligible but are still considered to be of some interest.

Special Note:  These recordings are not pieced together, but are continuous clips from longer EVP recording sessions.  Depending on the investigator, recording sessions can be short (five minutes) or long (one to two hours).  Very few recording sessions will actually contain paranormal voices.

Work in Progress

Since the EVP Samples section is a work in progress, this area will be expanded regularly with new audio samples.

Voice Sample 1

In this audio sample from March 13, 2008, you will first hear the words of the investigator saying, "That's all right."  After a short pause, a second, far deeper voice, speaks.

The clips are presented -- if possible -- with some ambient sounds to help put the alleged paranormal voice in the proper context.  This recording is picking up random kitchen sounds and you may notice the clattering of cups and plates.

The recorder used in this case was a Sony P520 and while the sound quality is lacking, the paranormal voice stands out.  This audio clip was passed once through a noise reduction filter.

It should be noted that this particular voice was recorded on several occasions over the course of several months and always spoke rather loudly and never whispered.  This is particularly ironic because the voice appears to be saying, "I whispered."

(A Sony P520 recorder was used as the primary recorder in this and the next few voice samples.)

Voice Sample 2

In this audio sample from March 15, 2008, you will hear the investigator speaking playfully with one of his dogs.

"Would you like some beans?  You would?" (water running) "Yes, I can read minds."  (more kitchen sounds ... sound of spoon tapping bowl).

A few seconds later, an unknown voice says what appears to be, "He understood me."

Did the unknown speaker misunderstand the reading minds joke and take it seriously?  Whoever this speaker is, it sounds similar to the March 13 voice.

Voice Sample 3

In this audio sample also from March 15, 2008, you will hear the investigator comment on something while working on his computer.

The investigator says, "Fascinating ... I'm less freaked out."

A few seconds later, an unknown voice with a very mellow tone appears to say, "He will believe us now."

Voice Sample 4

In this audio sample from March 25, 2008, you may hear what appears to be a cacophony of sounds which seem to be voices.  In the middle of the clip, one voice stands out and seems to rapidly say, "We have to kill him."

It seems that if the paranormal voices are from living (but discarnate) beings, not all of them have found peace of mind.

Caution is always advised when dealing with the unknown.  EVP or other paranormal investigators would do well to realize that when you look into the Beyond, the Beyond may look right back at you.

Voice Sample 5

One wonders if these unseen speakers may also be unseen listeners.  How do they perceive our physical environment?

To gauge by a spoken reaction, it does seem they hear normal acoustic sounds to some degree.

In the following clip from May 13, 2008, you will hear two dog barks.  (The volume of the barks has been reduced to spare the listener's eardrums.)  After the second bark, a voice seems to say, "She's barking."

If this is correct, then the speaker has also accurately used the correct gender for the dog since, out of three dogs, two male and one female, it was the female who barked.

Voice Sample 6

Perhaps the strangest voice ever recorded by this investigator was captured outdoors on May 23, 2008, but there appear to be two unknown voices on this clip.

The first voice seems to be speaking very rapidly and says, "Three or four of us do okay."  The meaning of the words is obscure.

The investigator is then heard to speak and he says, "Oh yeah, definitely."

There then follows what appears to be a voice, but if it is a voice, it is most odd.  The cadence is monotone and nearly robotic.  Whoever the speaker may be, it seems to be only marginally aware of the rudiments of human speech.

The strange voice begins by saying what seems to be, "We ... come ... from ...," but the last three words are unintelligible.  Who or even what this being is, is open to speculation.  No other voice like this was ever recorded.
